id Software will remove Denuvo anti-cheat from PC version of Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal developer id Software will take away the sport’s PC anti-cheat program, Denuvo, in its subsequent patch.

The anti-cheat know-how was added with Doom Eternal’s first replace on May 14 — lower than per week in the past — to an overwhelmingly destructive response from gamers. The sport ended up getting review-bombed on Steam after the patch dropped.

“Despite our best intentions, feedback from players has made it clear that we must re-evaluate our approach to anti-cheat integration,” government producer Marty Stratton announced on the Doom subreddit. “With that, we will be removing the anti-cheat technology from the game in our next PC update. As we examine any future of anti-cheat in DOOM Eternal, at a minimum we must consider giving campaign-only players the ability to play without anti-cheat software installed, as well as ensure the overall timing of any anti-cheat integration better aligns with player expectations around clear initiatives – like ranked or competitive play – where demand for anti-cheat is far greater.”

Stratton famous that any efficiency points that gamers could have observed within the final replace weren’t brought on by Denuvo, and are separate points that’ll even be mounted with the subsequent PC replace. He mentioned the efficiency issues gamers have seen on PC “are based on a code change … around VRAM allocation.”

Similarly to Valorant’s anti-cheat, Doom Eternal’s was required to run on start-up and has a deep degree of entry to data on the PC. No time-frame was given for the subsequent PC replace, however gamers on social media and Reddit are already celebrating the demise of Denuvo — at the least in Doom Eternal.

The King of Fighters ALLSTAR hasn’t quite been out for a year yet, but it’s picking up steam recently thanks to a widespread bemusement towards its current crossover event. It even brought me back after I had taken a bit of a break. Some of ALLSTAR’s systems can be a little janky or frustrating, but at its core, combining fighting game properties with beat ‘em up gameplay is a lot of fun. I play this on a much more casual level compared to Dragalia Lost, but I do have a few pointers locked and loaded.
