Twitch takes “appropriate action”, bans Dr Disrespect

Guy ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm has been banned from Twitch. That’s as a lot as we formally know, however experiences point out that this can be a everlasting ban with no connection to the latest wave of copyright takedown requests levied in opposition to numerous Twitch streamers. Twitch’s assertion on the matter is obscure, saying solely that the organisation takes “appropriate action” no matter a banned streamer’s reputation.

“As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service”, Twitch tells CNN’s Shannon Liao in an announcement. “These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

Dr Disrespect’s ban is everlasting, per nameless sources chatting with journalist Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau. Fans have speculated that Dr Disrespect has been banned on account of a large wave of DMCA takedown requests that started early in June. Breslau experiences that Dr Disrespect’s ban has nothing to do with these requests.

The ban comes simply days after Twitch announced plans to proactively ban accounts associated with abuse and harassment. We are conscious of no particular allegations in opposition to Dr Disrespect.

Last yr, Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch after streaming from inside a toilet at E3. His account was unbanned a month later. He signed a two-year exclusive streaming deal with Twitch again in March.
