We’re still not entirely sure what exactly Kid A Mnesia Exhibition is. The bizarre collaboration between the band Radiohead and Epic Games was teased during today’s PlayStation Showcase, but they haven’t revealed much additional information. It doesn’t appear to be a game, per se, but more of an interactive exhibit that commemorates Radiohead’s music, specifically 2000’s Kid A and 2001’s Amnesiac. It seems to be a 20 year celebration of that music. Check out the mysterious teaser below:

Launching on PS5 and the Epic Games Store in November 2021, the YouTube trailer describes Kid A Mnesia Exhibition as “An upside-down digital/analogue universe created from original artwork and recordings to commemorate 21 years of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac.”

Kid A Mnesia is actually the name of a 20th anniversary reissue of the two Radiohead albums, releasing on November 5th, 2021. It will include both of the original albums, along with a bonus disc titled Kid Amnesiae of additional unreleased music and material from that era of Radiohead. It seems like Kid A Mnesia Exhibition will be another piece of this 20th anniversary collection, celebrating the turn of the century work by Radiohead.

Just what this full experience entails remains to be seen. Most surmise that it won’t be a “game,” but more of an interactive exhibit—a digital museum celebrating Radiohead in a unique way. Epic Games has been trying to explore new ways that digital mediums and the metaverse can cross over with modern culture, and Kid A Mnesia Exhibition could very well be the next evolution of those explorations. Given Epic’s involvement, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Radiohead crossover in Fortnite around this time either, but for now, Kid A Mnesia Exhibition seems to be its own standalone thing.

We’ll continue bringing you stories from today’s PlayStation Showcase, as well as a full recap of all the announcements soon.

Kid A Mnesia Exhibition is coming in November 2021 to PS5 and Epic Games Store.
