The September 2021 PlayStation Showcase is shaping up to be one of, if not the biggest presentation of games and updates since the PS5 launched last year. With not much left that we currently know of in Sony’s upcoming first-party slate, the publisher is getting ready to show off what numerous PlayStation Studios and third-party developers have coming to the PS5 over the next little while. It’s guaranteed to be chock full of surprises and big announcements that you won’t want to miss.

The next God of War is expected to be the breakout star of the show, as well as some teases for a Crash Bandicoot announcement related to today’s 25th anniversary. Activision’s partnership with PlayStation probably guarantees a Call of Duty: Vanguard trailer in there, with the early access beta kicking off tomorrow. We’ll also likely get more gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West, get to see what other first-party studios are up to (that inFamous rumor holds a bit of water), and perhaps even an update on Final Fantasy XVI. And would it be too much to hope for a tease for the next part of Final Fantasy VII Remake?

Additionally, while Sony specifically said there wouldn’t be any PSVR2 talk during the showcase, it didn’t take PS5 hardware talk off the table, so we may see some announcements about future plans for the console, and maybe even a surprise release of the latest firmware that’s been in beta over the last month. Now that we’re approaching a year of PS5, it would behoove Sony to talk about what’s next for the console experience with added quality of life improvements, not just the games. We might even get more details on that previously announced partnership with Discord, which is supposed to go live in early 2022.

Watch the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase

The September 2021 PlayStation showcase kicks off at 1pm PT / 4pm ET, and will run about 40 minutes long. While it’s not the behemoth E3 press conferences we’ve seen in the past, this is longer than any showcase they’ve done this year, and the pared down runtime could indicate better pacing that will keep the hits coming.
