Rainbow Six Extraction Free Content Roadmap Released

Ubisoft has introduced {that a} “sizeable amount” of Rainbow Six Extraction‘s post-launch content will be completely free, and the game will come with an evolving endgame.

Maelstrom Protocol is a weekly challenge mode designed for “the most skilled” Rainbow Six players, who will be tasked with getting through nine subzones – each with increasing difficulty, tougher enemies, less resources, and shorter time limits.

“At each checkpoint, squads must choose to either extract to bank their points or attempt to push to the end,” Ubisoft explained. “Earning points will secure a place for challengers in up to four classes, from Bronze to Silver to Gold, Platinum and even Diamond Class, each rewarding players with special headgear and REACT Credits.”

Then, there are Crisis Events and Assignments. Crisis Events are described as limited-time “game-changing” events with different themes. They’ll add a brand new Operator to your roster or a brand new Protean enemy to defeat. The first occasion is named Spillover, and it’ll have gamers wipe out mass colonies of an developed Sprawl whereas being hunted by Archæans. Completing the occasion will reward gamers with unique REACT Tech, new cosmetics, and new lore.

Assignments, however, are weekly modes with gameplay modifiers. “For example, Veteran Mode involves no HUD, limited ammo, and friendly fire enabled,” wrote Ubisoft. “At launch, players can tackle both Maelstrom Protocol and weekly Assignments, with Crisis Events becoming available soon after.”

Rainbow Six Extraction will launch on January 20, 2022, with full cross-play, cross-save, and cross-progression on all platforms together with the PlayStation 4 and 5.
